Open Court Moves with Reaction

In the drill, the coach puts up a hand on either side, and the player has to react and attack opposite of the hand. We have instituted a rule that if the hand is opposite the dribble, rather than go in a straight line or hesitate, the player has to make a double move. One reason for instituting a small element of decision-making like this, even though it is not game-like, is because studies have shown that the presence of a defender changes the technique of a cut. It is easy to see with these players that their moves are different and their bodies move differently when there is a coach and a small reaction compared to when there is no coach.
