Basic high-school basketball offensive set
Coaches often ask me what offenses or sets that I run. When I coached junior varsity girls basketball in California (shot clock), this is basically our offense. We ran the same basic set against man and zone. We did not start with the down screen because we were able to make the guard to guard pass without any problems. Against zones, we usually scored off baseline penetration from the left corner (the original point guard); either penetration to score or the post diving to the front of the rim from the top.Just an easy set for organization that enabled multiple options. We also had a strong side dribble entry that fed into the same basic motion: Pass - back screen - ball screen.By Brian McCormick, PhDDirector of Coaching, Playmakers Basketball Development LeagueAuthor, The 21st Century Basketball Practice and Fake Fundamentals
